Ugh! I am coming down with something…. I don’t have time to be sick 😝 #momof3
Growing up, anytime we’d start to get sick my dad would make us this drink called hot totty. It’s still my go-to anytime I feel something coming on. It’s hot water, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar, raw honey and lemon.
- apple cider vinegar helps to alkalize the body. Bodies that are more alkaline may be more effective at fighting off viruses that cause colds and the flu. You just need 1-2 tablespoons because it is strong!
- raw honey has antibacterial, antibiotics, and anti-microbial properties. It has been shown to be effective at fighting exterior and internal infections. Also it is a natural cough remedy and can soothe and heal sore throat’s.
- cinnamon contains anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and antioxidant properties
- lemon is loaded with vitamin C, which helps support the body’s natural defenses. It also helps reduce phlegm.
To make the hot toddy I just mix a little of all these together and then heat (for a regular mug size I mix about 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar, 1 Tbsp honey, squeeze of lemon and a sprinkle of cinnamon). I drink this a couple times a day until I feel better… Which is hopefully soon! 🐝🍋🍎 😷
